The school band has been a unique feature of Loyola High school for the last 3 decades. Started in 1984 by Bro. Ronald with half a dozen wind instruments and as many percussion instruments, is today a full-fledged band with over 60 instrumentalists capable of transporting audience to a level of musical ecstasy.

Mr. Jose Emmanuel , repute Mathematics teacher of the school has been mainstay of school band: coordinating the activities of the band and roping in professionals for help from time to time. Loyola school band has been an added attraction in all major events of the school including the Independence day, Republic day, school sports meet and inter school events like Bro. Montfort Memorial Inter school Table tennis Tournament and so on. The band, in their impeccable custom sewn tartan uniform, with belts and buckles, caps, badges and brooches is a delight to beholders’ eyes.

Every year there is a great enthusiasm among the students for becoming a part of the school band. So we have a selection process in place. Students of class 6th and above are eligible for selection. Selected students are given training by professionals in wind and percussion instruments. On Saturdays the wind instrumentalists and percussionists gather in the allotted places for training. During the sports meet when the action on the field take a break and the school band takes the center stage for mesmerizing symphony. The school band has been integral to all major school functions but nothing can get bigger than the sports meet. Along with the scouts, NCC and the Tarumitra, the school band comes forward to help in the school’s social awareness and outreach programmes. We are very proud of our school band. They are not musicians but inspiration to other students.
